Island Cafe
About This Spot
Island Cafe is one of those inviting local diners that feels like a quiet pause in the slow rhythm of Everglades City. The moment you step inside, there’s a comforting blend of familiarity and warmth—a place where the chatter is easy and the pace unhurried. The nostalgic clink of plates and the steady hum from the kitchen create a backdrop where neighbors and travelers alike come to savor a truly unpretentious dining experience.
The atmosphere hints at traditional American diner charm, enhanced by a touch of Southern coastal character. It’s the kind of spot where you might find yourself drawn to a window seat, watching the day unfold outside while enjoying a thoughtfully prepared meal. The menu reflects the local landscape and flavors, mixing hearty breakfast classics with unique Everglades-inspired choices like fried gator and shrimp tacos that invite you to taste the region’s spirit. Whether it’s a simple cheeseburger or a slice of inch pizza, each bite feels grounded in genuine care and local pride.
Here, meals are not rushed affairs but moments to connect—whether with the food or the friendly, easygoing service that encourages you to settle in. Island Cafe embraces its role as a shared neighborhood table, where guests return time and again, drawn by steady quality and approachable prices rather than hype. It’s the kind of place that feels just right for winding down after a day of exploring or for fueling up before heading back out into the wild charm of the Everglades.
Island Cafe quietly holds space for a diverse group of visitors—from local residents who appreciate its reliable hospitality to adventurous diners eager to try homey staples and local specialties alike. Great place, really good prices too! Service and food were great... The wife's debt toast was delicious our eggs were cooked perfectly, which is really difficult if you ask me but really important.my chicken fried steak was good too.. potatoes were ok.

This place is a gem. The food is INCREDIBLE... they need to update online menu though. . SOOOO good. Found it looking on the map and rode down with friends that live in Labelle... but I WILL be driving 3 hours from avon park to eat here again. We ordered the chicken bacon ranch wrap, a cheeseburger, fried gator, and pizza and hush puppies which i didn't get a photo of because we devoured them too quickly. Was 60 bucks for two people.

Great little restaurant. A place to eat e.g. fried gator in good quality for a reasonable price. Friendly service and good beer (chance to get the famous Islamorada IPA)

Good diner in rural Everglades City. We had the Alligator Nuggets (because we had to try it), a salad and a burger. The nuggets were good but quite salty. Altogether very enjoyable experience and I can only recommend it

This is a great small mom and pop family diner tucked away in the Everglades. Had the best fried oyster po' boy I've eaten in years. Too bad they serve New England clam chowder. Not that I don't like New England clam chowder, I love it. Its just that its not Florida. Definitely comming back and next time bringing friends.
